Western Union launches Smartphone FX Payments

   Englewood, Colorado  --  Financial services company The Western Union Company (NYSE: WU) has announced the launch of a new foreign exchange payment service for smartphone users.

The service allows users to utilize their smartphones to send payments in more than 140 currencies to countries where Western Union currently offers its online payment and FX services.

The company cited third-party research predicting that mobile payments will reach 1 billion users and $1 trillion in transactions within the next five years.
