Amazon Launches Home Services Marketplace

   Seattle, Washington  --  Online retailer Amazon (NASDAQ: AMZN) has announced the launch of a new marketplace for on-demand professional services for the home.

Called Amazon Home Services, the service enables customers to "browse, purchase and schedule hundreds of professional services from wall mounting a new TV to installing a new garbage disposal to house cleaning, directly on Amazon.com."

The marketplace is invitation only and professional service providers are background checked and are required to maintain minimum levels of insurance.

The service is now available in major metropolitan areas such as New York City, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Seattle.

Customers can purchase professional services for the categories of: Home Improvement, Computer & Electronics, Lawn & Garden, Lessons, Automotive and others.
