SANTA CLARA, CA -- British newspaper Guardian News and Media said that it has launched the first phase of its online digital archive using Olive Software's reproduction technologies.

The archive will provide access to such significant events as the 1793 execution of Louis XVI, the defeat of Napoleon at Waterloo in 1815 and the 1833 abolition of the slave trade.

Olive Software's automated digitization processes enabled completion of the project in 12 months.  The Guardian also selected ProQuest CSA as the exclusive global distribution partner for universities, libraries and corporate accounts.
