New Site Helps Patients Find Clinical Trials

Tuesday, November 13, 2007 5:10:00 AM PDT | VentureDeal Staff

STANFORD, CA --  A new website designed to provide a single, comprehensive and publicly accessible database of clinical trials at Stanford University and its affiliated facilities has launched.

The database is available at http://clinicaltrials.stanford.edu and will not only be helpful for patients hoping to find clinical trials matching their medical needs, but also in providing a greater population for researchers to use for clinical trials.

About 1,000 clinical trials are going on at Stanford at any one time, with approximately 300 beginning and 300 ending each year.  Clinical trials entered into the new system will automatically be uploaded to the National Institutes of Health (NIH) database.
