ANAHEIM, CAASM International and Granta Design have teamed up to create a new medical device database specifically created to support medical device design.

The database is named Materials for Medical Devices Database: Cardiovascular Module and is a comprehensive source of mechanical, physical, biological response and drug compatibility properties for the materials and coatings used in cardiovascular device applications.  The database includes fully traceable information to primary sources, including published literature, FDA device approvals, manufacturers datasheets, standards and web sites.

According to Michael Helmus, Chairman of the ASM database committee, "It helps [researchers] understand what we know aboutu previously used materials so that they can leverage existing knoeledge to potentially facilitate shorter and more cost effective R&D programs."
