Intel Capital Invests $218 Million In VMware

SANTA CLARA, CA -- Intel Capital announced that it has invested $218 million in VMware.  SEC filings also indicated that VMware intends to go public soon and raise an estimated $741.4 million at a $24 per share offering price.

VMware provides virtualization software that effectively separates the operating system and application software from the underlying hardware running the programs. 

The benefit to IT customer is that the system allows them more flexibility in choosing a variety of operating systems while retaining a resilient systems infrastructure.
