IPTRADE Completes Smart Composite Structure

Friday, July 13, 2007 5:00:00 AM PDT | VentureDeal Staff

NEWTON, MA -- Composite designer IPTRADE, Inc. announced the commercial availability of a "smart composite structure".

The composite structures are less than three millimeters in size and when operated as sensors do not require external power due to the direct piezoelectric effect.

The structures can also be configured to play a variety of roles, including sensor or actuator or both.  They can also be remotely configured from unimorph to bimorph and back.  This is accomplished by a patented electrical connection system that allows each layer to be individually configured.
