IPO Activity On The Increase Says Report

SAN FRANCISCO, CA -- IPO activity has been increasing lately, according a recent report by Dow Jones Venture One.

The number of VC-backed companies having an initial public offering was 35 by mid-year, versus 56 during all of 2006, representing an increase of 25% over the previous year if present trends continue.

Moreover, the number of IPOs is raising the value of M&A valuations.  Nationally, the median M&A deal size reached $62 million at the mid-year point, versus $51 million in 2006, representing an increase of 22%.
