Facebook Buys Parakey As First Acquisition

PALO ALTO, CA -- Social networking site Facebook.com announced that it has acquired Parakey as its first company acquisition.

Parakey was founded by Blake Ross and Joe Hewitt, who also founded Mozilla Firefox, the popular open source Internet browser.  The company was in stealth mode at the time of acquisition.

Both Ross and Hewitt will join Facebook's team to work on the Facebook development platform.  Financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.
