Zipit Wireless Closes Series A Round

GREENVILLE, SC -- Wireless device company Zipit Wireless said that it has closed a series A round of venture capital funding, receiving $4.5 million.

Zipit has developed a wireless messenger device, which the company says is the only Wi-Fi instant messaging device that supports all major IM services.

Investors in the round were Windspeed Ventures, SunBridge Partners, Meritus Ventures, L.P. and SC Launch!  The company will use the funding proceeds to continue its expansion into the consumer electronics and wireless markets.
