AMES, IA -- Biofuels company Catilin, Inc. announced that it has raised $3 million in series A venture capital financing.

Catilin says it has developed a unique process for biofuels production that reduces the cost of biodiesel, making it competitive with diesel, even without government subsidies.  The process works with a variety of feedstocks, including soybean oil to animal fats.

Mohr, Davidow Ventures led the financing round.  The company intends to use the proceeds to build a pilot production facility and hire additional staff.
