Greatcall Clears $36 Million Venture Funding

SAN DIEGO, CA -- Telephone maker Greatcall has received $36 million in a new round of venture capital investment.

The company has created a cellular phone it calls the "Jitterbug" that is a simplified phone targeted at the elderly safety market.  By making a simple phone, the company believes there is a market for such a device for elderly parents of the baby boom generation.

Investors included Charles River Ventures, Nauta Capital and Steelpoint Capital Partners.
