Ausra Starts With $40 Million Series A Round

PALO ALTO, CA -- Solar energy startup Ausra has received $40 million in first round funding from two notable venture capital firms.

Ausra develops and deploys utility-scale solar technologies to serve global electricity needs.  The company builds technologies that are components in solar thermal electric power stations that supply energy.

Investors Khosla Ventures and Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers invested in the round.  Proceeds purposes were not disclosed by the company.
