CAMBRIDGE, MA -- Software maker HubSpot said that it has secured $5 million in series A funding from a prominent Cambridge-based venture capital firm.

HubSpot is an Internet-based marketing software platform that enables small and medium businesses to get more leads from corporate websites by driving more visitors and converting more of them to bonafide sales leads.

General Catalyst Partners invested in the round and both Larry Bohn and George Bell from the firm will join HubSpot's Board of Directors.  The company's site is still in private beta test stage.
