EMERYVILLE, CA -- Biofuel maker Amyris Biotechnologies, Inc. announced that it has closed its second round of venture capital financing, securing $70 million.

Amyris is developing synthetic biology technologies to produce bioactive chemical compounds.  The company says that its unique processes give it access to compounds unattainable conventional chemical synthesis.
