Cardiosolutions Comes Up With $7 Million First Round

STOUGHTON, MA -- Medical device spinoff Cardiosolutions, Inc. announced the close of its first round of venture capital investment, receiving $7 million.

Cardiosolutions makes a catheter medical device that offers a less invasive way to repair of the heart's mitral valve.  The device enters through a blood vessel in the inner thigh and can be manipulated to repair the frequently defective valve.

Bioventures Investors led the round.  The funding proceeds will be used to continue development and FDA certification of the device.
