Cempra Pharmaceuticals Clears $10 Million Financing

MORRISVILLE, NC -- Cempra Pharmaceuticals, Inc. said that it has received $10 million from strategic and existing venture capital investors.

Cempra is a biotech company focused on developing medicines to treat drug-resistant bacterial infections in the community and in hospitals.

Investors in the round were strategic investor Optimer Pharmaceuticals, Inc., and existing venture capital firms Aisling Capital and Intersouth Partners. Proceeds purposes from the funding were not disclosed.
