TerreStar Allies With Qualcomm On Satellite Handsets

Reston, Virginia  --  TerreStar Networks announced that it has partnered with Qualcomm to develop integrated satellite-cellular technologies for conventional sized mobile devices.

Under the terms of the agreement, Qualcomm will develop the satellite protocol, and TerreStar will develop the necessary S-Band frequency technologies.

Company president Jeffrey Epstein said, “As we move forward towards our expected satellite launch in June 2009, we plan to leverage our technological advances, key partnering agreements and our stable liquidity to establish a first-to-market advantage.”
