Pliant Technology Collects $8 Million Venture Capital

MILPITAS, CA -- Storage drive maker Pliant Technology announced that it has received $8 million in series A round venture capital investment.

Pliant is developing a new class of solid state hard drive storage devices for the personal computer and laptop markets.  The components are being designed for both higher performance and lower energy requirements.

The funding was led by Lightspeed Venture Partners.  No other investors were identified.  The company said the proceeds would be used for bringing its technology to market in the fourth quarter of 2008.
