BELLEVUE, WA -- Online education company GlobalScholar has raised its series B round of venture capital financing in the amount of $27 million, according to a report in PE Hub.

The company offers an online tutoring program, where students can connect with tutors in a one-on-one format.  The platform is also used by schools to help teachers and students communicate.

Ignition Partners invested in the round, which included other unnamed firms.  The company used part of the proceeds to acquire Excelsior Software of Greeley, CO, a provider of educational assessment management solutions.
