SEATTLE, WA -- Web application hosting company Amazon Web Services LLC, an affiliate of Amazon.com, announced the addition of two new capabilities to its web hosting service.

First, the company launched Elastic IP addresses, which enable developers to remap any compute instance on the fly, allowing them to engineer around any problems with their instance or software.

Additionally, EC2 now provides the ability to program instances in multiple Availability Zones, or locations.  Since each Availability Zone runs on its own physically distinct infrastructure, this enables smaller companies to achieve reliability levels previously on available to large enterprises.
