Apoptos Raises $28 Million Series A Funding

SAN DIEGO, CA -- Pharmaceutical company Apoptos, Inc. announced the close of its series A round of venture capital financing, receiving $28 million.

The company is developing small molecule drugs that directly induce tumor cell apoptosis, or programmed cell death.

Investors in the round included Venrock, ARCH Venture Partners, OrbiMed Advisors and Advanced Technology Ventures.  Funding proceeds will be used to advance its line of candidates.
