Columbus, Ohio -- Medical device company CleveX announced that it has received $1.4 million in equity financing and will initiate its new medical surgical tool launch in September, 2008.

CleveX has developed ExiClip, a surgical tool that excises skin lesions and closes the site more efficiently than typical scalpel and stitch or procedures.  The company says that the technology also helps patients with a more favorable cosmetic result.

Plymouth Venture Partners led the round, which included other investors.  The company is seeking an additional $400,000 to close the round.
