aTyr Pharma Nets $12 Million Series C Venture Capital

San Diego, California  --  Pharmaceutical company aTyr Pharma has raised $12 million in its third round of institutional venture capital funding.

aTyr says that it is "developing a novel class of naturally occurring protein Biologics for human therapeutics."

Investors in the company include Alta Partners, Cardinal Partners and Polaris Venture Partners. The company said the funding proceeds would be used to continue development of its lead drug candidate and expand its discovery and preclinical platforms.
