Hawthorne, California  --  Space Exploration Technologies (SpaceX) announced the successful demonstration of its new navigation proximity sensor.

The sensor, called DragonEye, was demonstrated on the current NASA shuttle mission.  The sensor was tested in proximity of the international space station in preparation for potential future visits by SpaceX Dragon spacecraft.

The system provides three-dimensional images based on the amount of time it takes for a single laser pulse from the center to reach a target and bounce back.
