Echelon Launches Open Smart Grid Software Platform

(NASDAQ: ELON) has announced the launch of a new open-source software platform for smart grid management.
Designed for the grid edge, the platform assists utilities with what it calls "Intelligent Distributed Control" for the space between distribution and end-user.
The company also announced the availability of its Edge Control Node (ECN) 7000 series of open and extensible hardware solutions.
