Academia Nets Second VC Round

   San Francisco, California  --  Research networking site Academia.edu has raised $4.5 million in its second round of venture capital financing.

Academia.edu operates a "social sharing site for academic researchers" and also provides information on analytics to publishers of research papers.

Spark Capital led the round, which included True Ventures. Both firms participated in the first financing round for the company.

The company did not disclose how the proceeds purposes would be used.
