SwRI To Build Miniature Solar Observatory

   Boulder, Colorado -- Nonprofit, applied research organization Southwest Research Institute (SwRI) has announced that it will build a portable miniature solar observatory for manned suborbital flight.

The new solar instrument pointing platform will have the capability to fly on new commercial manned suborbital aircraft, such as XCOR's Lynx spacecraft.

The benefit of the new technology is that it will enable science instrument developmentat a fraction of the cost of existing solutions.
