BioNano Genomics Launches Genome Mapping System

   San Diego, California  --  Biotechnology company BioNano Genomics has announced the launch of its new genome mapping system.

Called Irys, the benchtop platform uses single-molecule imaging to visualize long nucleic acids, extending the reach of existing genomic identification technologies.

The system uses a proprietary chip to "uncoil and confine long DNA molecules into nanochannels, uniformly linearizing them for high-resolution, single-molecule imaging."
