Amazon Launches High Storage Instance Family

   Seattle, Washington  --  Amazon Web Services has announced the launch of a new service for high storage customers.

The new service, available via its Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2), will be optimized for providing customers with 35 EC2 Compute Units of capacity, 117 GB of RAM and 48 TB of storage across 24 hard disk drives.

The system will be capable of delivering more than 2.4 GB per second of sequential I/O performance.

Customers can launch the new instances using the existing AWS management console and it is currently available in the US East Region.  It will come on line in other AWS regions in future months.
