Los Angeles, California  --  The Metro Ethernet Forum and Ethernet standard inventor Robert Metcalfe have announced the launch of a new version of carrier Ethernet standards.

Called Carrier Ethernet 2.0 (CE 2.0), the new standards will feature Multiple Classes of Service, Interconnect and Manageability.

CE 2.0 will also expand from 3 services in version 1.0 to 8 services, which will enable wholesale providers to be able to increase revenue by more easily wholesaling their existing footprint.

For end users, it will mean more consistent performance levels, regardless of office location and will provide more capabilities to small and medium businesses.
