Philadelphia, Pennsylvania  --  The Franklin Institute announced that it will begin selecting a class of 15 students for its new science enrichment program.

Called STEM Scholars, the program aims to provide under-resourced high school students with intensive instruction in science, technology, engineering and math disciplines.

The program was piloted last year with 15 students and this year represents the results of the lessons learned from that introductory test.

The institute was founded in honor of America's first scientist, Benjamin Franklin.
