Dow AgroSciences Launches New GMO Corn Traits

  Indianapolis, Indiana -- Agricultural technology company Dow AgroSciences has announced the launch of a new pest and herbicide tolerant corn species in Argentina and Brazil.

Called POWERCORE, the new corn trait has five genes, two of which are herbicide tolerant and three of which are resistant to major corn pests.

The company says that the new technology will increase corn yield between 5% and 10% depending on weather conditions and the existing technological level of crops.

Dow AgroSciences cited annual global sales of $5.7 billion in 2011.
