Renewable Energy Global Atlas Goes Online

Abu Dhabi, UAE -- The International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) has announced the launch of what it calls the world's first open-access global atlas of renewable energy resources.

Called the Global Atlas, the site is part of an initiative to assist countries in assessing their renewable energy potential and charts solar and wind resources throughout the world.

The Atlas was announced at the annual general assembly of IRENA, where 150 countries meet to discuss the future of renewable energy policies around the world.

Over the next two years, the Atlas will expand to other forms of renewable energy that it tracks.
