RTI Launches Sternal Cable Plating System

Alachua, Florida  --  Surgical implant company RTI Surgical (NASDAQ: RTIX) has announced the full launch of a new system for closing median sternotomies.

Called the Tritium Sternal Cable Plating System (SCP), the system promises to enhance the stability and strength of traditional sternal closure techniques following open-heart procedures by utilizing a proprietary load-sharing concept.

Another benefit is that the system may enable surgeons to avoid extra dissection or devascularization of the sternum to achieve proper fixation.

The company announcement is the first implant launched since its acquisition of Pioneer Surgical Technology.
