Layer Nabs Seed Venture Capital Investment

San Francisco, California  --  Internet communications company Layer has landed $1.5 million in its seed round of venture capital funding.

Layer is developing an "open communications layer for the Internet, enabling the power of messaging, voice and video calling in any mobile or web product."

Investors in the round included Data Collective, Bloomberg Beta and others.

The company did not say how the funding proceeds would be used.
