Seattle, Washington  --  Amazon Web Services (AWS) has announced the launch of a new high-performance container management service.

Called Amazon EC2 Container Service, the service launched initially with support for Docker, enabling customers to launch, manage and scale from one container to hundreds of thousands of containers across a managed cluster of Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud instances.

The service integrates with Docker Hub, which is a hosted repository for Docker container-based applications.

This new service also includes a set of APIs to enable users to run and manage containers and use the service as a core building block for applications.
