Amsterdam, Netherlands  --  ON Semiconductor (NASDAQ: ONNN) is launching a new product family that it says "supports high-performance, reliable and efficient communications for the Internet of Things."

Called the NCS3651x, the family of ultra-low-power wireless transceivers operates at 2.4 GHz and are based on the IEEE 802.15.4-2006 standard.

That standard supports protocols such as ZigBee, 6IoWPAN, WirelessHART and others.

These protocols are well designed for the low data rate and intermittent communication profiles of Internet of Things applications.
