Liberty Global Joins RDK Consortium

   Denver, Colorado  --  Cable service provider Liberty Global has joined an industry consortium for developing next-generation in-home devices and services.

The purpose of the consortium is to develop a Reference Design Kit (RDK), a pre-integrated software bundle that aims to create a common framework for powering Internet protocol or hybrid set-top boxes and related devices in the home.

Liberty Global says that it was an "early proponent of the RDK" and is now taking a strategic stake in RDK Management LLC, the vehicle for the joint venture together with Comcast and Time Warner Cable.
