Internet Governance Forum Launches Support Association

   Istanbul, Turkey  --  The Internet Governance Forum has announced the launch of a new Support Association.

The IGF Support Association's purpose will be to provide support to the United Nations Internet Governance Forum, will provide an informal setting for work towards effective Internet policy solutions.

The Association will also contribute to the United Nations IGF Trust Fund support capacity building in developing countries, national and regional initiatives and fellowships for participation in IGF meetings at all levels.

The Internet Society has been the prime mover in the establishment of the new Support Association.

During the IGF Support Association General Assembly, a number of individuals were elected to the executive committee, from independent researchers to representatives from AT&T, Verizon, ICANN, CATIA and other organizations.
