San Francisco, California  --  Internet technology company Doximity said that it will announce the results of what it calls the "first comprehensive national evaluation of medical and surgical residency programs".

Created in conjunction with the US News & World Report, the physician network will publish its report about the top 10 residency programs in the US covering 20 different medical specialties.

Doximity says that both the Institute of Medicine and the Association of Health Care Journalists have called for increased transparency into medical residency training.

The company said it will also launch a free tool, called Residency Navigator, to help prospective medical students find the best program for their focus.
