Gillingham, England  -- Delphi Automotive (NYSE: DLPH) said that it will be first-to-market with vehicle communication technologies.

Called V2V and V2I for Vehicle-to-Vehicle and Vehicle-to-Infrastructure, the two systems promise to significantly advance driver alert capabilities.

The wireless technologies will transmit data from car to car to alert drivers of potential road hazards in advance, even when vehicles are out of immediate sensor detection range.

Delphi said that the technologies are scheduled to be launched in 2016 in North America.
