Qvella Lands Series A Venture Financing

   Richmond Hill, Canada  --  Biotechnology company Qvella has garnered $20 million in its Series A round of venture capital funding.

Qvella is a molecular diagnostics company that has developed a technology for pathogen detection by "direct sampling of bodily fluids without the need for culturing or time-consuming sample processing."

RA Capital led the round, which included other undisclosed investors.

Qvella said that it will use the capital to support its research and development efforts and continue to build out its team.

CEO Tino Alavie co-founded the company in 2010.
