Burlington, Massachusetts  --  Imaging technology company Infraredx has announced the launch of its new advanced imaging system and catheter.

Called the Advanced TVC Imaging System, the FDA-cleared technology identifies lipid-core plaques which complicate stenting procedures.

The system integrates near-infrared spectroscopic and intravascular ultrasound to provide fast decision-making and greater physician confidence in determining treatment strategies.

Infraredx says the device is the "only commercially available multimodality imaging system to combine both intravascular ultrasound and near-infrared spectroscopy."

Infraredx was founded in 1999 and most recently raised $25 million from Nipro in August 2013.
