RainDance Launches Myeloid Malignancy Panel

   Billerica, Massachusetts  --  Genomics tools company RainDance Technologies has announced the launch of a new sequencing research assay.

Called the ThunderBolts Myeloid Panel, the new tool was "designed to rapidly detect and cost-effectively analyze genetic mutations associated with AML (Acute Myeloid Leukemia)" and other myeloid diseases.

The company developed the assay in conjunction with a group of hematoologic oncology experts from academic and cancer research centers in the US and Europe.

The assay will provide information on mutations in hotspots and 49 different genes implicated in the action of specific blood and bone marrow cancers.

RainDance cited an American Cancer Society estimate that in 2014 in the US, more than 10,000 individuals died from Acute Myeloid Leukemia.
