Itron Launches Internet of Things Developer Community

   Liberty Lake, Washington  --  Energy and water technology company Itron (NASDAQ: ITRI) has announced the launch of a new Internet of Things and smart cities developer community.

Called the Itron Riva Developers Community, the new resource is the "first of its kind distributed intelligence platform that supports sensing technologies and dynamic applications at the device level."

The purpose of the communities to provide developers with tools to prototype, validate and develop Internet of Things applications more quickly.

Itron is focused on the energy and water management, smart street lighting and solar monitoring sectors.

The company said that applications developed could run on interconnected devices such as "parking meters, appliances, streetlights sensors and more."
