Monday, May 4, 2015 5:00:00 AM PDT | VentureDeal

Rosemead, California  --  Edison International (NYSE: EIX) has announced a commercial partnership with Tesla Energy.

Under the terms of the agreement, Southern California Edison, which is a utility subsidiary of Edison International, will implement energy storage projects that feature Tesla Powerpacks.

The two firms are working together on demonstration projects that can help to reduce the cost of these battery storage systems for both residential and business use cases.

The two projects will test communication capabilities and the impact of rebates to customers.

Customers must allow SCE to manage their battery charging in order to increase the use of renewable energy while interacting with the existing electrical grid.
