Charlottesville, Virginia  --  Medical device technology company Rivanna Medical announced that it has received FDA 510(k) clearance to market its spinal anesthesia assistance device.

Called the Accuro, the device is a handheld unit that provides 3D navigation to physicians administering spinal anesthesia into the epidural space.

Rivanna says the device has an addressable $1.1 billion US market comprising more than 20 million neuraxial anesthesia-related procedures per year.

The company also stated that research has found that a significant percentage of needle placement attempts fail.

Rivanna is talking with potential strategic partners in order to accelerate its US market activities.
