Ford Starts Wearable Technology Development

   Palo Alto, California  --  Global automaker Ford Motor Company announced a series of initiatives for its research efforts.

First, the company announced the appointment of director of autonomous vehicle development, Randy Visintainer, along with creating a team to drive corporate initiatives.

The company also announced the MyFord Mobile app, which promises to provide customers with the ability to check various aspects of their vehicle's performance and capability from their smartwatch, including from the Android Wear platform.

Ford also announced a pre-collision assist and pedestrian detection technology that will be available in the United States next year on an unannounced Ford-brand vehicle.

The company said that it offers the most driver-assistance features in four US vehicle segments.
