23andMe Raises $79 Million Series E Funds

   Mountain View, California  --  DNA information technology company 23andMe has secured $79 million in new venture capital equity investment, according to an SEC regulatory filing.

23andMe is developing low-cost and innovative ways for individuals to take advantage of knowledge of their personal DNA.

Investors in the financing were not disclosed, nor was how the company intends to use the proceeds.

23andMe is still seeking $71 million in additional financing, according to the filing.

The company is backed by a large syndicate of institutional and strategic investors.
